The national society of black engineers(NSBE) has been an integral part of my college experience as well my commitment into giving back to my community.
NSBE is a professional engineering organization focused on the uplift, and support of Black Engineers, as to diversify the workforce.
Through NSBE I have made sure to follow it's mission statement of "excel academically, suceed professionally and positively impact the community".
Joining the Freshman Executive board(FEB) during my first year was that introduction to NSBE and fulfulling it's mission. With this team of 5 freshmen
mobilized the chapter’s freshmen initiative effort in the black engineering community of TAMU, seeing an increase to our meeting attendance.
Coordinated with the board in catering for 70+ members, designing a formal itinerary for events, inviting guest speakers, and managing a budget.
This was our most significant event and one where we felt we could bring something to our members.
Later I continued my leadership within TAMU NSBE as a senator where I delivered within the Administrative Zone of TAMU NSBE chapter, and leading three of the chapter’s intramural sports teams.
Corresponded as NSBE representative for a chapter of 120+ active members. Actively acting as the chapter’s voice in regional and national matters.
Finally this year I was part of the Regional Financial Comittee where we categorized budget line items related to the success of the annual Fall Regional Conference hosting over 500 members and 30 companies/sponsors.
Oversaw the approval of funds destined for regional needs, accommodations, food and event planning outside the conference.
